The Dirty Feet Heartbreak 100km, 50km and Relay returns to Thompson-Nicola in British Columbia on August 15th. This ultra trail running event will take place at Stake Lake, known for its challenging terrain and scenic beauty.
On race morning, the air is crisp with a coolness that hints at the early summer heat to come. The area around Stake Lake offers a serene setting, surrounded by dense forest and rolling hills. Participants can expect to start their journey under clear skies, but be prepared for unexpected changes as conditions shift throughout the day.
The event has been running since 2016, supported by local communities and participants who have grown to appreciate its significance in the region. In recent years, it has attracted over a hundred runners each year, with both solo competitors and relay teams eager to push their limits on this demanding course. The race supports scholarships for young athletes and raises funds for community development projects.
The 100km Relay Team Member and Solo races will cover eight legs of varying distances: Legs 1,3,4 - 10km each; Leg 2 - 15km; twice around all 8 legs for the full distance. For those seeking a shorter challenge, there are options with 50km Solo and Relay Team Member races as well. The 25km Night Race will wind through the same challenging terrain after dark.
Course venue is Stake Lake in Thompson-Nicola, British Columbia; it features diverse surfaces ranging from rocky trails to forest paths, offering a mix of elevation gains and declines. Start times for the event are set at 7:00am sharp for the 100km & Relay Team Members and Solo runners, followed by the 50km/Relay teams and solo participants at 9:00am. The night race will begin its unique journey at the same time. Aid stations will be strategically placed to provide support throughout.
