About the Event

The Dash'n'Splash returns to Sandgate on June 27th, 2026 in Queensland, Australia, combining a fun-filled 5K run with an invigorating swim in the outdoor pool at the Sandgate Aquatic Centre. Participants will start their journey through Sandgate parkrun, where the community spirit is palpable even before dawn breaks.
This inaugural event offers a unique blend of physical and aquatic challenges, set amidst the scenic backdrop of Sandgate's parks and pools. The race venue promises a memorable experience with its firm yet slightly soft terrain that supports both runners and swimmers. Starting at 7am sharp in front of the Sandgate parkrun crew, participants will be greeted by an inclusive atmosphere where all are welcome to enjoy the event.
Dash'n'Splash has been established as a community-driven fundraiser for the Queensland Law Enforcement Torch Run. Since its inception, it has grown significantly, attracting numerous participants who contribute generously towards sending Special Olympic athletes to the National Games in Victoria later this year. The event not only raises funds but also fosters unity and support within the local community.
The course venue offers a 5K run alongside Sandgate parkrun followed by a delightful 25m swim at the Aquatic Centre, making it suitable for all ages and abilities. Runners will face firm yet slightly soft terrain under very high UV index conditions on race day. Participants must arrive by 7am to secure their event singlet, beverage, and breakfast burger. Bib pickup will be held on-site the day before or morning of the race.
The start location is Sandgate parkrun, which conveniently doubles as both the finish line for runners and the starting point for swimmers at the Aquatic Centre. Age requirements are relaxed to accommodate everyone from young under-16s to adults. Standard entries cost A$25 with additional options available for volunteers or those seeking promotional access.
