On November 14, 2026, the iconic Maracanã stadium will host the Football Light Run - Pelé Edition, an evening race that promises to be one of Brazil's most memorable running events. Organized by Effect Sport and sponsored by Light with support from the Pelé Brand, this event celebrates the legacy of football legend Pelé in a setting where he marked his 1000th goal. The courses range from 8K for serious runners to a family-friendly 4K option, along with a relay race (4K + 4K) and special kids' races. Participants will run under the grandstands of Célio de Barros track, ascend the stadium ramp, pass through both the upper and lower arches, and sprint across Maracanã's lush green field. The event kicks off at 16:00 with arena access, followed by a kids' race starting at 17:00. The main events begin promptly at 18:00 for the 4K run and continue through to 20:00 when the 8K and relay races start. A vibrant show then takes over until midnight. Runners will experience the unique atmosphere of this historic venue, illuminated by night as they weave through iconic landmarks that have witnessed some of Brazil's most significant sporting moments. Whether you're an avid runner or a casual participant looking for a memorable evening out with family and friends, the Football Light Run offers an unforgettable blend of sport and celebration in one of Rio de Janeiro’s greatest stadiums. Registration can be completed via PIX, bank slip, or credit card payments (up to 3 installments). Special discounts are available for groups, running clubs, and people with disabilities.
