About the Event

Join us for an unforgettable run along the picturesque tow path alongside the River Tone, as Channel Events teams up with Taunton Running Club to present the Community Canal Run. This unique and scenic route offers runners two options: a 14-mile journey starting at Bridgwater YMCA or a shorter 7.5-mile course beginning from Maunsel Lock.
The event is entirely free of charge, but pre-registration is mandatory for safety and logistical reasons. Participants will enjoy the off-road terrain that winds through tranquil landscapes dotted with charming cafes along the way. Three delightful stops—Purple Spoon at Bridgwater YMCA, Maunsel Lock Tea Rooms, and The Weir in French Weir Park—are perfect spots to refuel.
While this is a non-competitive event without official timing or medal awards, it's an excellent chance for runners of all abilities to connect with the community. The route showcases breathtaking views while providing opportunities to purchase refreshments from local cafes en route.
The Community Canal Run also aims to support the vital work of the Canal and River Trust by encouraging donations directly benefiting their conservation efforts. Medical services will be available courtesy of Apex Medical and Rescue, ensuring a safe experience for all participants.
