Comber Cup 2026

On Sunday, October 11, 2026, starting at noon, the Billy Neill Playing Fields in Dundonald will host an exciting addition to the Northern Ireland Cross Country League: The Comber Cup. Sponsored by the local Comber Commercial Centre, this event is a beloved tradition that draws runners from across the region.
The races begin with the Primary 6 & 7 category for young athletes under 12 years old, who will compete in a one-kilometer course at noon. This introductory race sets the stage for more competitive events throughout the afternoon.
Following closely behind are three age-group races starting at 12:30 pm. The Under-14 and Under-16 categories run two laps of 1,400 meters each on a challenging Ballydrain course, distinct from the familiar Bobby Rea route. For those aged up to 18 years old, three grueling laps await at the same time.
At 1:30 pm, the John McKeag Cup takes center stage with an open race for women of all ages and abilities over a distance of 5.5 kilometers. This event includes specific categories such as Female Open, Under-20, Masters (ages 35+), and Veterans aged 60 and above.
The day culminates at 2:30 pm with the main attraction—the Comber Cup itself. This prestigious men's team race covers a distance of 8 kilometers through varied terrain around Billy Neill Playing Fields. The course includes categories for Men Open, Under-20, and Masters competitors.
Registration is required in advance as no on-the-day entries are accepted. Participants must adhere to the age category based on their date of birth at the time of the race.
Runners can expect an engaging atmosphere with supportive crowds cheering them on throughout each event's duration. The scenic setting around Dundonald provides a picturesque backdrop for this memorable day of cross-country racing.
