About the Event

The Guang’an Marathon returns on Sunday, November 16, 2025, starting at 07:30 AM, bringing runners together in the historic city of Guang’an, Sichuan Province. Organized by the Guang’an Municipal People’s Government and certified by the Chinese Athletics Association, the event offers a professionally managed race experience across three distances. This year’s edition maintains its large-scale format, expecting 20,000 runners across all categories. Race Distances Participants can choose from three events: Marathon – 42.195 km Half Marathon – 21.0975 km Fun Run – 5 km All categories start at the Guang’an Cultural and Expo Park, with the marathon finishing at the same location. The Half Marathon concludes at Paifang Village Square, while the Fun Run ends at Zongchengli.

Guang'an is a prefecture-level city in eastern Sichuan province. It is most famous as the birthplace of China's former paramount leader Deng Xiaoping. Guang'an lies between the hills of central Sichuan and the gorges area of the east. Guang'an is the only "Sichuan Chongqing Cooperation Demonstration Zone" in Sichuan and the nearest prefecture level city from the main city of Chongqing. It has been incorporated into the one-hour economic circle of Chongqing. Because of its strategic location, it is called the "Gateway to Eastern Sichuan". Its population, as of the 2020 census, was 3,254,883, of whom 976,370 lived in the built-up area made up of two urban districts.
