Chelsea Chase 5K

The Chelsea Chase 5K returns on Saturday, May 16, 2026, for a high-energy morning of fitness and community support in Chelsea, Massachusetts. Starting and finishing at El Potro Mexican Grill, this event serves a dual mission: supporting the Jordan Boys & Girls Club and the Chelsea Police Relief Association. Course Details and Participation

The 5K route takes runners through a "hectic" and vibrant urban section of Chelsea, requiring high situational awareness.

• - The Route: Race roads will NOT be closed to traffic. Runners and walkers are encouraged to stay on or near sidewalks and must follow the directions of volunteers at intersections.
• - Walkers Welcome: The event is inclusive of all speeds; walkers are invited to participate alongside the runners in this community effort.
• - Parking: Parking is strictly permitted ONLY across from the El Potro entry in the Market Basket Plaza. Avoid other spots in the plaza to prevent towing.
• - T-Shirts: Guaranteed for all participants who register by May 14th. Remaining shirts will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis on race day.

Awards and Demographics

The Chelsea Chase recognizes a wide range of participants, with categories designed to celebrate the diverse local population.

• - Age Categories: Awards are presented to top male and female finishers in groups: 19 & under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+.
• - Resident Pride: Special awards are reserved for the first Chelsea resident to cross the finish line.
• - City Demographics: Chelsea is a uniquely diverse city; as of the most recent data, approximately 67% of the population identifies as Hispanic or Latino, 20% as White (non-Hispanic), and 7% as Black or African American. This diversity is reflected in the vibrant local support for the Jordan Boys & Girls Club.
• - Police Support: The race honors the memory of 11 fallen officers in Chelsea's history, five of whom were lost in the last 15 years.
