Cerebral Palsy Family 5K 2026

Join the community for the Fourth Annual Cerebral Palsy Family 5K on Sunday, October 17, 2026, starting at 9:30 AM at Belmont Lake State Park in Babylon, New York. This event is a powerful celebration of strength and unity as participants walk, run, or roll to raise awareness for cerebral palsy (CP), the most common motor disability among children.
Cerebral Palsy affects individuals' movement and posture due to neurological conditions that are non-progressive but lifelong. With an estimated 1 in every 345 children affected in the United States alone, this condition impacts millions of lives globally. The event honors Julianna Rose, a remarkable young girl who faced two brain hemorrhages during her mother's pregnancy because of Neonatal Alloimmune Thrombocytopenia (NAIT). Despite these challenges, Julianna remains an inspiration to all with her unwavering courage and determination.
Participants will have the opportunity to walk or run alongside Julianna in her wheelchair as they navigate through the picturesque trails of Belmont Lake State Park. The scenic route offers a serene backdrop for this meaningful event while promoting physical activity within a supportive community environment.
The event welcomes everyone, including pets on leashes following park policies. Children under 15 years old can participate at no cost, ensuring that all members of the family can join in and contribute to raising awareness about cerebral palsy.
