Castle Carr fell race

On October 4, 2026, runners will converge on Wadsworth Community Centre in Old Town, Hebden Bridge for one final edition of this beloved and challenging trail run. The course offers an unforgettable journey through the rugged beauty of Yorkshire's moors.
Starting from Wadsworth Community Centre at either 11am or a special early start option at 10:30am, participants will embark on a 24-kilometer (15-mile) route that weaves through some of England’s most stunning private landscapes. The race winds its way across Midgley Moor and Warley Moor before reaching the majestic Castle Carr Estate, providing runners with breathtaking views at every turn.
The course is meticulously designed to challenge even the most experienced trail runners, featuring a total ascent and descent of 1200 meters (4000 feet). Runners can expect extended climbs that test their endurance as well as exhilarating descents. The varied terrain includes stretches of open moorland interspersed with faster running sections.
Participants must adhere to UKA rules and regulations, making this a non-GPS race sanctioned by the Fell Running Association (FRA). Proper equipment is essential for safety; runners are required to carry specific items such as waterproof clothing, emergency shelter, and food supplies. These will be checked at registration before the event begins.
Runners must also respect private property rights by refraining from entering Castle Carr Estate or any other designated areas outside of race day. This ensures that future editions can continue to secure access for runners through community cooperation.
