Castle Alpine Trail Race

The Castle Alpine Trail Race 2026 returns to Pincher Creek No. 9, Alberta, Canada on September 19th. This unique trail run combines wide-open vistas and rugged single track through one of the most serene alpine valleys in the region.
Castle Mountain Resort serves as both a starting point and finish line for this challenging yet rewarding solo race or relay event. The course offers two mountain summits and includes off-trail running that will test your endurance. Expect bone-chilling winds at higher altitudes, making it essential to bring all necessary gear. While the temperature on race day is expected around 16°C with a slight chance of snow, prepare for conditions ranging from cool to warm depending on the time spent in elevation.
This event has been running since its inception and now supports local communities through various charities and scholarships. In recent years, it has attracted participants who appreciate both the scenic beauty and challenging terrain offered by Castle Mountain Resort. The course venue features rugged single track with notable climbs that test your fitness limits throughout each leg. Leg 1 runs clockwise, Leg 2 counterclockwise, and Leg 3 again clockwise back to the resort. Start and finish points are at Castle Mountain Resort, ensuring a seamless transition experience without the need for external support.
Participants can expect an average temperature of 16°C with a minimum of 8.9°C and maximum of 23.4°C on race day, along with typical wind speeds around 11.2 km/h and humidity at about 55%. These conditions will make the ascent to higher elevations particularly challenging.
