Join us for an exciting twist on our annual group run as we venture along the Elgin Hiking Trail this fall. This scenic route offers runners a unique point-to-point trail experience, running parallel to Sunset Drive all the way to Port Stanley. The full distance is 30 kilometers, but there are various shorter starting points available at each road crossing: 27.5k, 20k, 17.5k, 14.5k, and 8k. The trail itself presents a technical challenge with mud, water crossings, roots, rocks, and steep hills along the way. Trail shoes are highly recommended for this run to ensure you have proper traction and support throughout your journey. The first 10 kilometers offer limited road access, so participants doing either the full 30k or the shorter but still challenging 27.5k distance must carry at least 500mL of water. To assist runners along this demanding route, a volunteer-driven support vehicle will be available with essential supplies such as water and snacks. You can leave any items you'll need during your run—like additional hydration or dry clothes—at the starting point for pickup later on. These items will also be accessible at aid stations located near John Wise and Union. Upon reaching Port Stanley, runners are invited to join us at Port Stanley Brewing Company for a post-run social event complete with food and beverages. For those who need assistance getting back to their vehicles afterward, volunteer drivers will provide rides as needed. This run promises stunning fall foliage views along the way, making it an ideal outing for both experienced trail runners looking for a challenge and newcomers eager to explore this lesser-known path under guidance from our group leaders. Whether you're tackling the full distance or opting for one of the shorter options, there's something here for everyone interested in experiencing the beauty and technicality of Ontario’s fall trails. For more detailed information about what to expect at each distance point along the route, be sure to check out the Fall Colours Run To Port Guide. See you on October 3rd!
