Cani-Sports Edinburgh: Whitekirk Hill Canicross Races
Join us at Whitekirk Hill near North Berwick, Scotland, for an exciting canicross event on Sunday, November 22, 2026. This family-friendly day is designed to bring people and their dogs together in a safe, supportive environment.
Registration begins at 8:45 AM, with races starting promptly at 10 AM. The venue offers stunning views and plenty of space for both runners and spectators alike. Whether you're an experienced canicross athlete or new to the sport, there's something here for everyone.
Race Distances
- Long Course (Approximately 5km): This course is ideal for those looking for a challenging run with their canine companion. The entry fee is £20 plus central fees.
- Short Course (Approximately 2.5km): Perfect for younger participants or as an introduction to canicross, this shorter distance costs £10 for adults and £5 for under 16s.
Categories
Participants are divided into various categories based on age groups and gender identities:
For the long course:
- Male
- Female
- Non-binary
Age divisions include 16-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+, and 70+ for both male and female runners.
The short course includes categories such as Adult Female, Adult Male, Junior Females (ages 7-10 and 11-15), and Junior Males (ages 7-10 and 11-15).

Whitekirk Hill provides a scenic backdrop for the event. The terrain is varied but manageable, offering runners an enjoyable experience with their dogs.
The day will feature marshals to guide participants through parking and course navigation, ensuring everyone enjoys a smooth start to their race.
Participants are encouraged to respect the venue by cleaning up after their pets at all times. Self-contained motorhomes can be parked overnight for those wishing to stay longer; however, facilities may not be available outside of regular hours.
Rules & Regulations
To ensure safety and enjoyment for everyone involved:
- Dogs must wear a proper canicross harness.
- All dogs should demonstrate eagerness to run.
- Children aged 7-10 years old must have an adult attached to the dog during runs.
- Borrowed dogs are allowed only in single-dog categories if familiar with their handler.
