Canal Diggers 5K

Experience the vibrant atmosphere and rich history of The Mass General Brigham Health Plan Canal Diggers 5K on Saturday, September 12, 2026. This year marks the 20th edition of this beloved race, which will once again commence and conclude at Fiddler's Green, located at 19 Temple Street in Worcester.
Pre-race festivities kick off early with pre-run ceremonies starting at 9:20 AM, followed by a special Kids Fun Run for young participants at 9:30 AM. The main event, the 5K race, will take place later that morning at 10:30 AM and finish near the Hibernian Cultural Center.
Post-race celebrations await all runners with an array of amenities including refreshments such as pizza, water, and non-alcoholic beverages for everyone. For those over 21 years old, beer is also available courtesy of our partners from Atlas Distributing. A virtual option is provided to accommodate those who can't join us in person; you have until September 11 at noon to complete your run.
The event promises a rewarding experience with the first 600 registrants receiving long-sleeve shirts, and all participants enjoying post-race goodies. Registration fees are $20 online before June 1st, rising to $30 from June 1 through August 31, and then increasing to $35 until September 9 at noon. On-site registration is available on Thursday, September 10th or Friday, September 11th between 4:00 PM and 6:30 PM for a fee of $40.
For students, the Undergrad Rate allows you to run with your college ID; this applies until race day. The Youth 1K is open to all young runners at just $15. Team participation is encouraged, and there are awards available for top teams!
