Cahaba River Classic

Step into the inaugural Open XC Race, organized by Trussville Parks and Recreation on November 21, 2026. This unique race begins and ends across from the Masonic Playground behind the Trussville Public Library, offering a scenic course that winds alongside the Cahaba River. Participants will start their journey running parallel to the river before tackling Cherokee Hill for an exhilarating ascent.
The route then takes runners down towards the Cahaba again, passing through the Civitan Disc Golf Course and navigating around holes 5, 2, 3, 17, and 18. For those racing in the shorter distance, this marks a turnaround point leading back to the start line. However, for the more adventurous 4-mile runners, the course continues along the Trussville Greenway before veering onto trails within the Trussville Sports Complex. After crossing Riverbend Road, racers will retrace their steps alongside the Cahaba until they reach the finish near the Masonic Playground.
All participants can look forward to an engraved river rock as a memorable memento of this special event. Whether you're racing in the 1-2 mile category for kids aged 12 and under or joining the longer distance open to anyone over 13, this race promises stunning views and challenging terrain that will keep runners engaged from start to finish.
