About the Event

The Café & Cacao fun run is to help support the work of Chronic Care International (CCI) which is a non-profit organization that helps people living with both poverty and chronic diseases like diabetes and high blood pressure. CCI works with patients in Omaha, the Dominican Republic, and the Philippines who suffer from these diseases. Their goal is to help every community save the lives of those who suffer from chronic diseases.

Papillion is a small town in Sarpy County, Nebraska, just southwest of Omaha and west of the Missouri river. The City of Papillion was founded in 1870. Legend has it that Frenchmen visited the broad valley where Papillion is now located, finding it overgrown with luxuriant grasses and multitudes of wild flowers. Swarms of butterflies flitted about in the sunlight and enthralled by the beautiful sight, one member exclaimed, "Papillion!"
