RegisterThe Butterfield Buster Gravel Ride
Ride History. Cross State Lines. Bust Some Gravel.
Saddle up for a two-state gravel adventure that traces a genuine slice of the American frontier! The Butterfield Buster takes you along significant segments of the legendary Butterfield Overland Mail stagecoach route, starting in Whitesboro, Texas, crossing the Red River, and looping into Oklahoma before heading back.
Expect a true mixed-surface adventure featuring rural county roads, hidden gravel gems, scenic dam crossings, and paved connectors as you navigate the path once traveled by stagecoaches in the late 1850s.
Whether you are looking for a fun introductory gravel grinder or a self-navigated century challenge, we have a route for you.
Route Options & Navigation
We offer four distances to suit different levels of endurance. Please note the navigation requirements for your chosen distance:
35, 50, and 75-Mile Routes: These courses will be fully marked for easy navigation.
The 100-Mile Challenge: This route is designed for self-sufficient riders. The 100-mile course is UNMARKED where it deviates from the 75-mile route. A GPS unit with the loaded route file is essential for century riders.
Support & Amenities
While this is a rural adventure, we’ve got your back:
On Course: Water tables will be staged along the routes to keep you hydrated. The routes also pass conveniently located convenience stores for extra refueling needs.
Post-Ride: Hang out and share stories at the finish line with complimentary soft drinks and snacks for all participants.
