Bunny Hop

The 2nd Annual Suncrest Middle School Bunny Hop is scheduled for Sunday, April 19, 2026, at Edith Barill Riverfront Park & Trail in Star City, WV. This 2-mile fun run and walk is a community-driven fundraiser organized to benefit the Suncrest Middle School PTO, supporting various student activities and educational initiatives. Star City is a small town in Monongalia County with a population of approximately 1,700. The demographic profile of the area is approximately 88.4% White, 3.8% Asian, 3.1% Black or African American, and 2.4% Hispanic or Latino. The event provides a scenic, family-friendly atmosphere along the local rail trail, which is a popular recreational asset for the Morgantown metropolitan area.

Course and Race Experience

The race follows a flat, out-and-back course on the Star City Rail Trail, starting near the Tug Boat Depot playground. This paved path is ideal for participants of all ages, including students and families. While the event is focused on fun and community spirit, it remains competitive for those at the front of the pack, with medals reserved for the top 50 finishers. On-site activations typically include music and a gathering of the Suncrest Middle community in the lower parking lot area, where race logistics are centered.

Registration and Logistics

Registration for the 2-mile event is priced at a flat rate of $15.00, which includes all mandatory charges and fees. Participants can register online through April 17, 2026, or opt for in-person registration starting at 2:00 PM on the day of the race. T-shirts are available as a pre-order item through the registration portal. Race numbers and pre-ordered shirts will be available for pickup in the lower parking lot starting at 2:00 PM, and organizers request that all participants arrive no later than 2:30 PM to ensure a smooth start.
