Challenge yourself. Conquer the Cotswolds. Ride for a cause.
The Broughton Castle Sportive returns on Sunday 27 June 2027, offering an unforgettable day of cycling through the beautiful North Cotswolds.
Starting and finishing in the historic grounds of Broughton Castle, near Banbury, this popular charity cycling event offers four challenging routes – 40km, 100km, 160km and 200km – taking riders through picturesque villages, rolling countryside and some of the Cotswolds' most demanding climbs.
Whether you're tackling your first sportive, aiming for a new personal best or looking for a serious endurance challenge, there's a route to suit your ambition.
With well-supported routes, fantastic scenery and a welcoming atmosphere, the Broughton Castle Sportive is about more than just the miles. It's an opportunity to challenge yourself, enjoy a great day of cycling and support worthwhile local causes.
A rewarding introduction to sportive cycling.
Explore the picturesque ironstone countryside of North Oxfordshire, passing through the villages of Shutford and Epwell.
With rolling roads, a few short climbs and a midway feed station, this route is ideal for newer cyclists, recreational riders and anyone looking for an enjoyable challenge without committing to a longer distance.
A classic Cotswold cycling challenge.
Step up the distance and experience the rolling hills and challenging climbs that make cycling in the Cotswolds so rewarding.
Combining steady ascents, testing gradients and beautiful countryside, this route is ideal for cyclists looking to push their fitness and endurance.
A feed station along the route provides an opportunity to refuel before continuing towards the finish.
Go further. Climb harder. Push your limits.
A serious endurance challenge for experienced cyclists ready to take on 160km of demanding Cotswold terrain.
Featuring two major hill climbs, long sweeping ascents and sharp gradients, this route will test your stamina, pacing and determination.
Three feed stations along the way will help keep you fuelled as you tackle the distance.
Our ultimate endurance challenge. Are you ready?
The Monster is not for the faint-hearted.
At 200km, this formidable route takes on some of the toughest terrain the North Cotswolds has to offer. Expect steep climbs, relentless rolling hills and a serious test of both physical and mental endurance.
Designed for seasoned long-distance cyclists, the Monster demands preparation, determination and careful pacing.
Four feed stations will help keep you going, but conquering this challenge is down to you.
Start window: 6.30am–7.00am.
Ride together. Compete together. Win together.
Bring your cycling club, friends or teammates and take on the Broughton Castle Sportive Team Rider Challenge.
Open to riders competing on the 100km, 160km and 200km routes, the challenge adds an exciting competitive element to the event.
Teams must consist of 4 to 6 riders, all registered in advance for the same route.
To encourage genuine teamwork, the fourth rider's finishing time determines the team's overall result. It's not just about having the fastest rider – success depends on working together and supporting your teammates throughout the challenge.
Winning teams will receive trophies at our official presentation evening at Broughton Castle following the event.
We aim to make your day as enjoyable and well-supported as possible, with:
Free on-site parking at Broughton Castle
