Experience the thrill of Mountain Bike Orienteering at the Black Mountains MBO, an exhilarating adventure for all ages and skill levels. Whether you're a seasoned rider or just starting out with basic off-road biking skills, this unique race offers something special for everyone. The event takes place in some of Wales' most stunning landscapes, including the Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons), Black Mountains, Wye Valley, and Forest of Dean. With both EBike and traditional MapRun courses available, participants can choose a route that suits their preference and ability level. Upon arrival at registration between 09:30am and 10:15am on November 8th, you'll receive a fully marked waterproof OS map detailing the course area. Use this map to plan your journey through challenging terrain and scenic trails as you race against the clock to visit as many checkpoints as possible within the three-hour time limit. For those who haven't tried Mountain Bike Orienteering before, don’t worry—help is available at registration where you can borrow a 30x30 Correx map board with clips if needed. The event is designed for both competitive enthusiasts and families looking to enjoy a fun day out together as Generation Teams. Post-ride refreshments will be waiting in the hall: warm tea, coffee, sausage rolls, and cake are on offer for all competitors who have completed their course. It’s a great opportunity to socialize with fellow riders while enjoying some well-deserved treats after your adventure. To ensure you’re fully prepared, detailed information about the event will be sent out two weeks before race day via email if you join the mailing list. Reminders and final instructions will also arrive closer to the date. Make sure you have either the MapRun App on your smartphone or a compatible GPS watch loaded with the necessary app. The specific event ID and PIN code required for tracking purposes will be provided in advance of the race, so make note of them when they come through. Join us at Black Mountains MBO for an unforgettable day filled with excitement, camaraderie, and breathtaking scenery.
