Celebrate 35 years of Texas cycling tradition at the Bluebonnet Express, returning to the scenic backroads of Waller County on Sunday, March 29, 2026. Proudly presented by the Northwest Cycling Club, this premier event is one of the Houston area’s oldest and most respected fully supported rides. Starting from Waller ISD High School, participants will trade the city bustle for a refreshing journey through the countryside, roughly 40 miles northwest of Houston. Whether you are a competitive cyclist or a recreational enthusiast, the "BBX" offers a perfect blend of flat stretches and gentle rollers, making it an ideal spring challenge and a cornerstone training opportunity for the upcoming MS 150.
The 2026 edition features four distinct routes tailored to every level of endurance: the flagship 70.5-mile trek, a classic metric century (62.1 miles), a mid-range 37.8-mile course, and a family-friendly 20.7-mile loop. To ensure a smooth and professional experience, the event includes a mass start at 8:00 AM with staggered staging. Cyclists can ride with confidence knowing the course is fully supported with mechanical aid, SAG vehicles, and strategically placed rest stops every 10–15 miles stocked with hydration and nutrition. Furthermore, area law enforcement provides critical traffic control at major intersections, allowing you to focus on the ride and the blooming beauty of the Texas spring.
Beyond the miles, the Bluebonnet Express is a complete festival experience rooted in community and safety. After conquering the ridges and roads of Waller, riders are welcomed back to the high school cafeteria for a well-deserved catered lunch, included with registration and served until 4:00 PM. Participants are encouraged to register early via BikeReg to secure the lowest rates and the official event T-shirt, as the event has moved to a convenient cashless system. From early morning packet pickups to the final celebratory meal, the Northwest Cycling Club invites you to be part of a legacy that promotes cycling excellence and regional camaraderie. Grab your helmet, check your gears, and prepare for a legendary day in the saddle!
