The Black Spur Ultra takes place on Saturday, August 22, 2026, starting at 8:00 AM MDT from the Kimberley Alpine Resort on North Star Boulevard in Kimberley, BC, Canada. This 11th annual mountain ultra features 108k, 54k, half marathon, relay, and kids’ race options on technical single-track with no pavement, big climbs, and stunning scenery between the Purcell and Rocky Mountains.

Event Logistics and Participant Information:

Registration Deadlines: Early bird pricing ends January 28, 2026. Regular pricing runs January 29 through July 28. 11th Hour pricing applies July 29 to August 14.
Check-in and Meetings: Racer check-in is Friday, August 21 at 2:00 PM at the Kimberley Conference Centre. Volunteer meeting at 7:15 PM, racer meeting at 8:00 PM.
Late Check-in: Available Saturday, August 22 at 6:30 AM by reservation only.
Team Registration: For relays, teammates can register individually and join a team. An access code can be enabled to prevent strangers from joining.
Finisher Awards & Meals: Half Marathon lunch at 1:00 PM, 54k dinner at 7:30 PM, 108k brunch on Sunday at 8:05 AM. Course closes for 54k at 8:00 PM Saturday, for 108k at 8:00 AM Sunday.
UTMB Qualifier: Solo 108k and 54k distances serve as qualifiers for UTMB.

Course and Atmosphere:

Terrain: Winding, technical single-track with no pavement, big climbs through rugged terrain, immaculate trails. The half marathon includes a loop on Northstar Mountain face.
Scenic Setting: Kimberley is a secluded gem between the Purcell and Rocky Mountains with extensive single and double-track trails accessible from town.
Venue: Kimberley Alpine Resort is a world-class venue where participants can walk to the start line from their hotel room. The community is genuinely friendly and embraces outdoor adventure.
Sponsors: Merrell, Sun River Honey, Fenix, Icebreaker, Tailwind.
Kids’ Race Awards: Scheduled for Saturday at 10:30 AM (if the kids are in).
