BigNightOut - Dark Trails

Experience the enchanting BigNightOut, an adventure-filled evening run through the historic trails surrounding Winchester. Scheduled for November 7, 2026, this unique race features torchlit paths and panoramic views of the night sky.
Runners will gather at Winchester Athletics Track under a starry canopy to embark on their journey along the South Downs Way. The 22km route offers a challenging climb up Cheesefoot Head, rewarding runners with breathtaking vistas over Hampshire's countryside. After looping through Fawley and Morestead, both distances converge as they wind back towards Winchester via Deacons Hill and St Catherine’s Hill.
The race begins at 17:30 for the longer distance and 17:45 for the shorter course, each offering a thrilling night adventure with well-marked paths illuminated by custom fluorescent markers. Participants are required to carry their own headtorches or chest torches along with at least 500ml of water.
The event promises an energetic atmosphere filled with enthusiastic volunteers and on-course photographers capturing every moment. Runners will also enjoy the satisfaction of crossing the finish line after a memorable night run, complete with bespoke finisher medals for those who prefer tangible rewards over planting trees as their contribution to the environment.
Registration opens at 16:30 in Bar End, Winchester, where runners can collect their race bibs and drop off personal items before setting out on this unforgettable adventure.
