The Bear Country Night Trek returns to Waco, Texas on Friday, September 4th, offering nocturnal adventure along the Cameron Park trails for runners of all abilities. Participants can choose from various distances including a 5K, 10K, and half-marathon, with options available both nights leading up to race weekend. The event kicks off early in the evening with packet pickup at the Redwood Shelter within Cameron Park.
On race morning, or rather nightfall, runners will face hilly terrain illuminated only by their headlamps. The dirt and rocky single-track trails of Cameron Park provide a challenging yet scenic route through one of Waco's most beloved natural spaces. Temperatures hover around 75-80 degrees Fahrenheit, creating ideal conditions for those who enjoy racing under the stars.
Since its inception, Bear Country Night Trek has become an integral part of the Texas Summer Night Series, attracting runners from across the state and beyond to experience the thrill of nighttime trail running. Over the years, the event has raised funds for local causes while fostering a strong sense of community among participants who come together to celebrate endurance under the moonlight.
The Cameron Park trails serve as the venue for this challenging course, featuring dirt and rocky single-track paths that wind through hilly terrain with 1300 feet of elevation gain on longer routes.
