Bear Canyon Trail Run

The Bear Canyon Trail Run returns to Sandy, Utah on October 10th, offering runners the chance to experience a challenging course with scenic views and a meaningful cause. Formerly known as Corner Canyon Ultra Trail Runs, this event continues its tradition of pushing athletic limits while raising funds for cancer charity. The race begins at 2860 Wasatch Blvd in Sandy, where participants will embark on either one or two loops through the Bear Canyon area.
On race morning, runners can expect to encounter a mix of single-track trails and low-traffic roads that wind around Bear Canyon's natural beauty. Temperatures typically range from 13°C to 8°C at dawn, with an average feel of about 13°C due to moderate winds and humidity levels averaging near 46%. The trail conditions are firm yet slightly soft underfoot, providing a stable surface for both climbs and descents.
Since its inception as Corner Canyon Ultra Trail Runs, the event has grown in popularity among endurance athletes seeking more than just competition; it's become an integral part of Sandy’s community fabric. Each year, all proceeds from the race go towards supporting individuals or families affected by cancer through local charities and initiatives. The course itself presents significant challenges with steep climbs like Trail of the Eagle at 4100 feet over five miles and technical descents such as Cherry Canyon Logging Trail, dropping nearly four thousand feet in four miles on fast but demanding terrain. Weather-wise, runners will face temperatures ranging from a low of about 8°C to a high of around 19°C during the day with moderate winds and very little chance of rainfall at only 1.3mm expected on race morning.
