The Bad Dawg 100/50/100k/50k/25k Ultra Endurance Run returns to Waynesville, Missouri on August 15th for its sixth year of no-frills racing through the Ozarks. The event offers a range of distances from the challenging 100-mile run to the shorter but still demanding 25K and 12 Miler options. All proceeds go towards supporting the OneSolePurpose project, which provides new shoes to every elementary student in local Title 1 School Districts.
Race day begins early with runners making their way along Red Oak Road for a packed gravel loop through scenic Ozark landscapes. The morning atmosphere is quiet and focused as participants prepare for what lies ahead. Temperatures will be warm but not extreme, offering clear skies and low humidity that make the tough course conditions feel manageable despite the rolling hills.
The Bad Dawg Ultra Endurance Run has become an important part of Waynesville's endurance sports community over its six-year history. Last year saw hundreds of runners participating across all distances to support local school children through OneSolePurpose, a cause close to many hearts in Missouri’s Ozarks region. The race continues to draw both seasoned ultrarunners and newcomers looking for their first taste of long-distance trail running.
The course follows a 10-mile loop on packed gravel paths with two aid stations: one fully stocked at the start/finish line and another minimally equipped halfway through. Runners can expect clear turnaround markers, well-stocked water points, Gatorade, typical race food options like energy gels and snacks, along with bathroom facilities. Pacers are permitted for 100 Mile and 100K runners after mile 50.
Weather conditions will be firm yet slightly soft underfoot due to recent rains making the trail surface workable but not overly muddy. UV index is high at a level of seven, so protective clothing and sunscreen should be part of every runner’s gear checklist along with plenty of hydration for warm August mornings in Missouri.
The race offers various distances including the challenging Bad Dawg Hundred (100 Mile) through to shorter yet still demanding options like 50K or even 25K runs. Runners also have a choice between standard running events and rucking versions, adding versatility within endurance sports communities.
