About the Event

On October 4, 2026, the Wintercup season kicks off at AV Spirit in Lelystad with the start of its 280th edition. This year’s race series continues to utilize RaceResult's electronic timing system for quick and accurate results.
Participants can register early through Friday, October 2, 2026, and take advantage of discounted rates. The event offers several categories:
- Kidsrun: An 800-meter run designed specifically for younger participants with a start time at 10:30 AM.
- Youth Run: A two-kilometer distance aimed at young athletes starting promptly at 10:45 AM.
- Recreational Runs: Two runs of varying distances, including both a five-kilometer and ten-point-three-two-kilometer option. Both start simultaneously at 10:45 AM.
- Walkers' Category: A leisurely stroll over the same five-kilometer route for those preferring to walk.
All participants in the Kidsrun will receive a commemorative medal upon finishing their race, fostering a sense of achievement and pride among young runners. Additionally, children who complete at least 5 out of the 6 Wintercup runs throughout the season are awarded with a special keepsake during the final event in March 2027.
A new feature this year includes rankings for both five-kilometer and ten-point-three-two-kilometer distances across all six events. The ranking system will be compiled based on participants' best four performances from October to February, ensuring that athletes have multiple opportunities to improve their standings before the final awards are presented in March 2027.
For those opting for a full-season subscription or early registration, start numbers can be collected at AV Spirit's event headquarters located within Sportpark Langezand starting at 9:30 AM on race day. On-site registrations will also be accepted from this time onwards.
The Wintercup series provides an engaging and supportive environment where runners of all ages and abilities can partake in a fun-filled morning of athletic competition, set against the backdrop of Lelystad's picturesque landscapes.
