About the event

The autumn 2026 edition starts from Kita-Karuizawa and offers a long mountain ride around the foot of Mt. Asama on October 25. Gran Fondo Karuizawa-100 covers 101.0 km (186 km flat equivalent) with about 2,373 m of climbing, and Gran Fondo Karuizawa-80 covers 79.9 km (146 km equivalent) with about 1,840 m. The 100 requires a finish of a mountain ride of 100 km or more, or a flat ride of 160 km or more, in the past.
The day before, October 24, a rogaining event is held in Kita-Karuizawa with highland soft-serve ice cream, and run, walk and drive entries are open as well as bike entries. The festival also backs Tandem Fondo Karuizawa, with donations used to buy tandem bicycles so that people with disabilities can cycle.
