Augusta Raurica Lauf 2026

The Augusta-Raurica Run is a beloved staple of the regional running scene, boasting one of the longest traditions alongside the Baselbieter Waldlauf. Year after year, this race draws nearly 900 participants to its historic starting line at the ruins of Augusta Raurica in Augst. The event kicks off with a ceremonial blast from a römischer Legionär's horn, setting an evocative tone for the run ahead.
The main 12-kilometer course winds through picturesque landscapes as it heads towards Füllinsdorf and follows Ergolz to Liestal’s periphery before looping back to Augst. Along this scenic route, runners encounter rolling hills and charming countryside views that make each step feel like a journey into the past.
In addition to the full-distance race, there are shorter options for younger athletes and joggers: 1.0 or 2.1 kilometers for schoolchildren and 5.5 kilometers for junior competitors as well as recreational runners in walking categories. This inclusive approach ensures that everyone from seasoned racers to beginners can enjoy a memorable day out on the trails.
On November 8, 2026, Augusta-Raurica Run promises another year of tradition and camaraderie against the backdrop of one of Switzerland’s most historic sites.
