China's first eco-coexistence trail race above 4,000 meters, the Amne Machin Extreme Challenge runs August 4-7 in Maqin County, Golog Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai, with race day on the 7th along a course between 3,885m and 4,486m elevation. Categories are Snowline Peak 55K, Snowline Gallop 27K, and Public Experience 8K. Registration opens June 15 at 10:00, with early-bird pricing through July 5. The 55K (54.5km actual, 2,560m climbing, 13-hour cutoff) runs as both a solo and a 4-person team event; the 27K (27km, 1,192m climbing, 7-hour cutoff) and 8K (7.91km, 346m climbing, 3-hour cutoff) are solo only. Golog sits in the heart of the Tibetan Plateau at the source of the Yellow River, in the core of the Sanjiangyuan (Three-River-Source) region -- known as the pure land of snow, the hidden realm of Golog. Amne Machin's glacial meltwater feeds the upper Yellow River and anchors the ecological balance of the entire Sanjiangyuan reserve.
