For clarification purposes, Registered Breed is defined as AKC/CKC (Canadian Kennel Club) /UKC (or the National Registry from the country of origin) registered Siberian Huskies, Alaskan Malamutes, or Samoyeds. Teams competing in the Registered Breed classes will be required to show official documentation of each of the registered breed dogs on their competing team. Any breed of dog can race within the All Breed classes, including Northern breeds without official Kennel Club documentation. AKC PAL registrant dogs will not be allowed to race within Registered Breed classes. If you have questions, please ask in advance as we will not be able to move you the day of the race to another class if you forget your documentation or misunderstood the classes.
Canicross is limited to running with one dog.
Each dog is limited to run up to two classes per race day. Whichever dog(s) are on your team for your particular class for Day 1 must be on your team for Day 2. If you are in a 4-dog or 2-dog class, you are welcome to drop one dog as needed. If you drop a dog on Day 1, you will need to also drop the same dog for Day 2. Dogs will be photographed to ensure this requirement is abided and apply any necessary DQs.
Trail distance and trail route for all classes are targeted to be 2.2 miles. In case of warmer weather, a shorter distance has been defined.
Equipment and Trail Rules will follow the ISDRA standard rules. Equipment not meeting the minimum requirements will result in a default scratch in the Starting Chute. Please make sure you read the rules and reach out in advance to clarify any questions about equipment and trail rules. We can help guide you to what you will need. Race Day is very late to confirm your equipment but feel free to reach out earlier in the day if you have any specific questions and want to double check. Our main goal is to keep the participants and their dogs safe.
