Across the Lake Swim Gellatly Bay has been a staple in West Kelowna's community for over five years now. Each year brings larger numbers of participants—over 250 swimmers last year alone—and supports local charities, ensuring it remains an important event on everyone’s calendar.
The course venue offers two distances: the shorter 2.5km swim and a more challenging 5km option. Both routes take advantage of Gellatly Bay's calm waters but may experience some gentle currents due to the lake's natural flow. Swimmers can expect clear visibility, with an average water temperature that feels like 23.6°C by race morning.
The start is located at the West Kelowna Marina, a bustling area often filled with boats and yachts. The finish line will be back at the same spot, ensuring convenient access for all participants after their swim. There are no official aid stations along the course as it’s primarily open water swimming but swimmers should stay hydrated.
