69. Billerhuder Insel Marathon (mit Halbmarathon) am 31.12.2026 (Hamburg Special Marathons / Insel Marathons)

On New Year's Eve, December 31, 2026, the Fun & Erlebnis Marathons will host the 69th Billerhuder Insel Marathon at Hamburg-Hamm’s Billerhuder Island. This winter edition marks the event’s 17th season in a charming garden setting. The race is sanctioned by KLGV 114, ensuring it adheres to regulations while remaining an informal and contactless running experience.
Participants will start and finish on Strandweg West near Parzelle 69, just off the Eiffestraße (B5). From there, runners follow a circular route along both Strandweg West and East, crossing the Billdeich dike twice per lap. The course totals approximately 43.5 kilometers for marathoners or 21.750 kilometers for half-marathon enthusiasts.
The race is designed to comply with the rules set by the German 100 Marathon Club without compromising on accuracy and formality, making it an ideal event for runners looking to log a qualifying distance in a relaxed atmosphere. The route offers scenic views of the island’s coastline and gardens while maintaining a smooth pavement surface throughout.
Registration closes at midnight on December 20, 2026, with late entries available but subject to higher fees. Early bird rates are €10 until December 20th, increasing to €13 by December 27th, and then €16 thereafter. Payment must be made within seven calendar days of online registration.
The event provides ample refreshments including water, lemon or apple tea, cola, cake, chewing gum, salt sticks, among others. Results will be available as downloadable certificates and lists from the race results page.
While there are no on-site changing facilities, toilets, or showers due to the nature of the venue being a garden island, runners can enjoy the picturesque setting and unique experience that Billerhuder Island offers.
