66th annual Governor's Cup Ski Race

Join us at Timberline Mountain on March 7th and 8th for a family fun-filled weekend as well as two days of competitive ski racing. 2026 is the 66th anniversary of the West Virginia's Governors Cup Ski Race, which happens to be the southeast's oldest running ski race!

Ski racing at its finest sees two days of racing at Timberline Mountain. The Giant Slalom course is set for Saturday, and Slalom is set for Sunday; each racer will have 2 runs for each course.  The combined times after 2 days of races will provide the men's and women's overall winners.  The overall winners will be awarded a WV-made glass trophy, and their names engraved on Governor's Cup Trophy. This event is open to anyone who would like to participate. Same as last year, the Snowboarders Category will be on Saturday only for the Giant Slalom.  There will be NO Telemark Category.

The Alpine Festival has secured enough sponsorships for the following prizes:
Alpine Category
- 1st place, all ages, receive new skis and bindings
- 2nd place, all ages, receive ski boot bag/backpack
- 3rd place, all ages, receive goggles

Snowboard Category
- 1st place, all ages, receive new snowboard
- 2nd place, all ages, receive boot bag/backpack
- 3rd place, all ages, receive goggles

Remember, online registration only!  There will be no in-person registration for the race.

Friday: 6-8 pm / Saturday & Sunday: 8-9 am at Timberline's Lodge. 

Saturday (Giant Slalom) and Sunday (Slalom) Schedule:
1st Run: 9:30 am
2nd Run: 12:00 pm
Sat. Awards: 3 pm
Sun. Awards: 4 pm

Lift Tickets Are Not Included In Registration Fee. Discounted Lift Tickets will be available during race weekend for registered participants. Must show a bib at the ticket window to receive a discounted ticket.
