The 28th edition of the 24 Heures de Roche la Molière takes place on Saturday, June 6, and Sunday, June 7, 2026, at the Stade de la Varenne on Impasse Jean Bouin in Roche-la-Molière, Loire, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France. Located near Saint-Étienne and the Pilat hills, this iconic endurance challenge offers solo and relay formats over 24 hours, 12 hours, or 6 hours on a flat stadium course.

Event Logistics and Participant Information:

Registration: Entries are accepted via the official race website using paper bulletins. A deposit is required for all participants.
Required Documents: A valid athletic license or a medical certificate of fitness for running (issued within the last year) is mandatory.
Bib Collection: Race numbers are distributed on site at the Stade de la Varenne on the morning of the event.
Course Description: The flat, paved loop measures 1 km for individual runners and 1.3 km for relay teams, with a shared section. The terrain is completely flat with zero elevation gain.
Relay Organization: Teams for the 24-hour format may include up to 10 runners. The 12-hour relay format (new for 2026) accepts up to 6 runners. Handovers take place in designated zones.
On-Site Facilities: Non-stop aid stations provide water and solid food throughout the entire 24-hour period. Camping is available at the venue for participants.
Night Equipment: Headlamps with spare batteries are essential for night starts (10:00 PM for 12-hour races, 4:00 AM for Sunday 6-hour races). Road shoes with good cushioning are recommended.

Route and Atmosphere:

Charitable & Inclusive: A night walk of 6 or 11 km is open to all, including joëlettes for participants with reduced mobility, accompanied by volunteers carrying lanterns.
Entertainment: A battle event on Saturday features fun challenges such as tire flipping, stretcher carrying, and wheelbarrow races, open to corporate teams and groups of friends.
Community Gathering: A paella party is organized the evening before the race, fostering a warm, family-friendly atmosphere among runners, volunteers, and supporters.
International Participation: Runners from 28 French departments, Switzerland, Germany, and Italy have already taken part, creating a diverse and motivated field.
Volunteer Spirit: In 2025, strong winds destroyed tents and the refreshment area the day before the event, but volunteers rebuilt everything by 6:00 AM on race day – a testament to the event's resilience and heart.
Spectator Experience: The stadium setting allows spectators to follow every lap closely, with non-stop cheering, music, and lantern-lit moments creating an unforgettable atmosphere.

The 24 Heures de Roche la Molière 2026 is more than an ultra-endurance race – it is a human adventure where resilience, camaraderie, and solidarity take center stage on the flat oval of the Stade de la Varenne, under sun and stars alike.
