The Frostbite 5-Miler returns as the Ambler Area Running Club’s signature winter race on February 18, 2026, marking its 27th year. This certified 5-mile course is renowned for its flat terrain and gentle hills, making it an ideal event to kick off your racing season in style. Registration opens October 1, 2026, with spots filling up quickly due to the race’s popularity—capping at a total of 1,500 runners. Early registrants can secure their entry for just $30 through December 31; prices rise incrementally until February 19 when it reaches $45 on race day. For students aged 18 and under, the cost is significantly lower: $15 if registered in advance or $20 on race day. Participants who sign up before February 1 are guaranteed a commemorative shirt. The event features age group awards for top male and female runners across fifteen categories (ages 14 & under to 80+). These accolades celebrate the diversity of talent among participants, from young athletes to seasoned competitors. Packet pickup is available at Born To Run in Spring House on Wednesday through Friday leading up to race day. Race morning pick-up starts promptly at 7:15 AM at Wissahickon High School for those who prefer last-minute logistics handling. Volunteers are encouraged to arrive by 7am, ensuring a smooth start to the event and allowing organizers to focus fully on providing an enjoyable experience for all runners. Proceeds from this race will be shared among local charities selected by AARC members. The Frostbite 5-Miler is part of the USATF Mid-Atlantic region Grand Prix series, adding extra prestige to your racing accomplishments. Regardless of weather conditions—snow, sleet, rain or shine—the Frostbite 5-Miler offers a thrilling challenge and an opportunity for runners to test their mettle early in the year.
