On Saturday, October 3rd, 2026, North Maple Regional Park hosts the seventh edition of UniversalCare Strides for Seniors Walk/Run. This beloved community event offers both a scenic 5km route and a more leisurely 2.5km option, catering to all fitness levels while promoting health and well-being among seniors. The day is filled with vibrant atmosphere as participants gather early in the morning at North Maple Regional Park to register between 8:00 am and 9:00 am for their race kits. Opening ceremonies take place at 8:45 am, followed by a warm-up session from 9:20 am to 9:30 am. The run starts promptly at 9:30 am, with the walk beginning shortly after at 9:40 am. The event culminates in an awards ceremony and cheque presentation at 10:40 am, celebrating not only the achievements of participants but also recognizing generous donors who support CIBPA PLACE. This York Region facility is a groundbreaking non-profit residential respite dementia care center operated by CHATS (Community & Home Assistance to Seniors), providing essential relief for caregivers while ensuring their loved ones receive high-quality compassionate care. In just five years, UniversalCare Strides for Seniors has raised an impressive $5.6 million in support of senior-centric programs across York, Toronto, and Peel Region. This year's goal is a significant milestone: raising $400,000 to further enhance the services offered at CIBPA PLACE. Participants have two convenient options for picking up their race kits (swag bags, bibs, etc.), either on Thursday, October 1st from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Richview Manor or event day pick-up between 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM at North Maple Regional Park. Free parking is available at the park but due to ongoing construction, space may be limited. We recommend carpooling where possible; an overflow lot will also be provided for additional convenience near Vaughan Cares Road's southern entrance. All health and safety protocols are strictly followed during the event, with detailed information distributed to registered participants ahead of time regarding any necessary changes based on current regulations. Join us in celebrating this meaningful movement that supports seniors and caregivers across our community. Together, we can build a brighter future for all. This year’s UniversalCare Strides for Seniors promises not only to be an uplifting day but also a significant step towards achieving the event's fundraising goals for CIBPA PLACE. Come experience the joy of this annual gathering at North Maple Regional Park and contribute to making a real difference in our community’s care services.
