2026 Ultra Trail Mt. Helan

About the Event

Immerse yourself in the untamed beauty of Ningxia's Helan Mountains, where nature’s rugged grandeur awaits at four distinct distances. From a leisurely 10km hike to an epic overnight ultra covering 88km, this trail race offers something for every level of runner.
The event begins and ends in Shizuishan, a city framed by the majestic peaks and deep gorges of the Helan Mountains. The terrain varies from gentle forest trails that wind through lush greenery to challenging ascents over rocky ridgelines. Runners will experience sweeping vistas and secluded valleys as they navigate this diverse landscape.
For those seeking adventure without the commitment of an overnight event, the 25km run offers a taste of the mountain’s character with its mix of woodland paths and elevated trails that provide panoramic views. The 48km route extends further into the heart of the Helan range, testing endurance on longer stretches through varied terrain.
The ultimate challenge is reserved for those who embrace the full spirit of exploration in the 88km overnight ultra. This distance requires runners to camp out under starlit skies and face the mountain’s most demanding sections during both day and night. The event showcases not only the physical demands but also the serene beauty of being immersed in nature.
Entry fees start at USD 40 for the shortest hike, increasing progressively up to USD 200 for the longest ultra distance, reflecting the differing levels of support provided by organizers along each route. This race is an opportunity to connect with one of China’s most striking natural landscapes while pushing your personal limits in a setting that combines breathtaking scenery and thrilling challenges.
Participants are invited to explore the Helan Mountains through this unique trail running experience, where every step taken reveals new wonders hidden within its rugged beauty.
