The 2026 Sydney 10 is widely recognized as one of the flattest and fastest road racing events in Australia, designed specifically for athletes aiming to achieve personal best times. Scheduled for Sunday, May 17, 2026, the event takes place within the historic Sydney Olympic Park, the site of the 2000 Summer Olympics. The centerpiece of the event is the AIMS-certified 10km course, which offers a unique finish line experience on the track of the nation's premier athletics facility.
| Event Wave | Start Time | Target Group |
|---|---|---|
| 10km Elite Wheelchair | 6:45 AM | Professional Para-athletes |
| 10km (Elite & Sub-40) | 7:20 AM | Competitive runners |
| 5km NSW Championship | 9:15 AM | Championship competitors |
| 2.5km Family Fun Run | 10:00 AM | Families and all ages |
Organized by Run NSW, the Sydney 10 caters to a broad spectrum of the running community, from elite international competitors to families participating in their first fun run. The event is structured into multiple waves based on expected finish times to ensure a smooth flow on the course and to provide clear air for those chasing records. Every participant who completes their designated distance receives a finisher medal, and elite categories compete for a designated prize pool. The venue at Sydney Olympic Park provides ample "stay and play" opportunities, making it a comprehensive destination for sports tourism during the race weekend.
The 10km course is meticulously measured and certified, ensuring that all times are official for national and international rankings. For the shorter distances, the 5km and 2.5km loops provide an accessible entry point for younger runners, with a minimum age of 8 years for the 5km event and no age restrictions for the 2.5km Family Fun Run. This inclusivity is a hallmark of the Sydney 10, which consistently attracts thousands of participants eager to experience the legacy of the Olympic precinct. The event also serves as the host for specific NSW Championship waves, highlighting its importance in the regional athletics calendar.
Logistically, the Sydney Olympic Park location offers excellent accessibility via public transport and significant on-site parking facilities. Participants are encouraged to arrive early for their specific wave times, with the first competitive start beginning shortly after sunrise at 6:45 AM. Beyond the race, the precinct features world-class aquatic centers, parklands, and dining options, allowing athletes and their supporters to extend their experience beyond the track. Complete race information and athlete briefings are managed through Run NSW, providing essential morning-of details to ensure a high-quality competitive environment.

Learn more about the host city, Sydney Olympic Park.
Sydney Olympic Park is a suburb of Greater Western Sydney, located 13 kilometres west of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of the City of Parramatta Council. It is commonly known as Olympic Park but officially named Sydney Olympic Park. The area was part of the suburb of Lidcombe and known as "North Lidcombe", but between 1989 and 2009 was named "Homebush Bay". The names "Homebush Bay" and, sometimes, "Homebush" are still used colloquially as a metonym for Stadium Australia as well as the Olympic Park precinct as a whole, but Homebush is an older, separate suburb to the southeast, in the Municipality of Strathfield.
