The 11th Annual Run for 102 Race to the Finish is scheduled for Sunday, April 19, 2026, in La Grange, Illinois. Organized by the District 102 PTOs and PTCs, this community event supports six local schools: Barnsdale Road, Congress Park, Cossitt Avenue, Forest Road, Ogden Avenue, and Park Junior High. The race is open to all participants, whether they are part of the school district or joining from the wider community.
| Race Distance | Start Time | Award Eligibility | Location |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5K Run | 8:30 AM | All ages & Grade level (K-8) | Ogden Avenue School |
| 1 Mile Fun Run | 8:00 AM | K-8th Grade students only | Ogden Avenue School |
Course Logistics and Timing
Both races begin and end at Ogden Avenue School, with routes winding through the residential streets of La Grange Park. The event utilizes disposable chip timing tags integrated into the race bibs. To ensure an accurate time, runners must wear their bibs on the front of their clothing. While strollers and walkers are welcome to participate, they are asked to start at the back of the pack. For safety reasons, dogs, rollerblades, bicycles, and skateboards are not permitted on the course.
Packet Pick-Up and Race Day Schedule
Advanced packet pickup is hosted at Gemini Gymnastics on Friday, April 17th. On the morning of the race, the check-in area opens at 6:45 AM and closes strictly at 7:30 AM to allow for an on-time start. Participants who sign up online before the deadline are automatically entered into a registration raffle featuring prizes from local businesses like Blackberry Market and Breakaway Basketball. After the races, a post-race party with music and school mascots provides a celebratory atmosphere for all finishers.
Community Involvement
The event is heavily supported by local volunteers, including Course Marshals who work with the La Grange Park Police Department to manage intersections. Local groups such as the Lions Club of Brookfield and Cycle Brookfield often assist with these efforts. Residents are encouraged to walk, bike, or carpool to the start line to reduce congestion, with dedicated bike parking available near the school racks at Waiola and Ogden Avenue.
