RegisterOn New Years Day 2026, Provincetown will celebrate the 10th annual Polar Bear Plunge!
On that day, hundreds of intrepid plungers will meet in the Johnson Street parking lot at 11 AM and enjoy piping hot coffee while learning about the vital work of the Center for Coastal Studies (CCS). At 12 PM, registrants will run, splash, and plunge into the waters of Provincetown Harbor!
**New this year: all registrants will receive a custom Polar Plunge-branded microfiber beach towel!**
The cost for single Plunge Registrants is $65.
Participants may register with a Team! Each team must consist of 2-5 registrants. Each team member must also register for $65, and be responsible for a personal fundraising goal of at least $500. To create a new team, please select the Team Registration event from the Polar Plunge homepage. In order to join a preexisting team, please register as a single registrant and opt into the preexisting team fundraiser name with the “search team fundraisers” button in the registration process. Show off your team's standing and support for the CCS by making it onto our leaderboard!
This year, single registrants and teams are also encouraged to pledge additional fundraising efforts to help support The Center for Coastal Studies, but it is not required. If you are unable to participate in this year's Polar Plunge in person, we will gratefully accept single registrations for those who wish to participate virtually! Registrants may participate virtually by posting a video or photo of their plunge on social media with the hashtag #PolarPlunge26. The best off-site plunge will be posted to @visitptown and @centerforcoastalstudies
Registration opens at 11 AM. All registrants must arrive by 11:30 AM. Plunge at 12 PM!
All plungers MUST wear water-shoes to prevent injury by sharp rocks and/or oyster shells in that part of the harbor.
All registration and pledged proceeds help to support The Center for Coastal Studies.
Special thanks to Kohi Coffee and The Funk Bus for supporting this event!
Produced by the Provincetown Business Guild, this charity tradition proudly celebrates its 10th year and is part of the Provincetown First Light celebrations for New Year's Weekend 2025/26.

These values represent the 3-year monthly averages for January in Provincetown.
Provincetown is at the very tip of the Cape Cod peninsula region of Massachusetts. Perhaps due to being at the remote end of the Cape and because of its variety of beautiful scenes, Provincetown has attracted artists of all types over the years. One of the oldest artist colonies in America, it has produced a large number of excellent galleries, cutting edge theatre, and many unique shops. There is also the persistence of an attitude of tolerance, making Provincetown a preferred home and travel destination for many LGBTQ people.
