2026 Hangzhou Xishan Mountain Climbing Congress (2026杭州西山登山大会)
About the Event
Experience the charm of autumn and embrace the beauty of nature at the Hangzhou West Mountain Hiking Festival on October 18, 2026. This annual event celebrates the traditional Double Ninth Festival with two distinct hiking routes designed to cater to all levels of hikers. The festival kicks off in the picturesque Longwu Tea Town, a scenic area nestled amidst lush greenery and rolling hills near Hangzhou City. Known for its serene beauty and rich tea culture, this region offers an ideal setting for both novice and seasoned adventurers alike. Participants can choose from two routes: an 8km Mountain Experience Course or a more challenging 18km Ancient Path Challenge Course. The shorter course is perfect for those looking to enjoy the scenic views without pushing their limits too far, while the longer route provides a rigorous test of endurance through historic trails and stunning landscapes. The 18km challenge begins at 8:30 AM with an elevation gain of 952 meters over seven hours, allowing hikers ample time to soak in the breathtaking scenery along ancient paths winding through lush forests and picturesque tea plantations. The 8km route starts later at 9:30 AM, offering a gentler climb that still provides plenty of opportunities for scenic exploration. Both courses wind through multiple scenic spots within West Mountain National Forest Park, blending rustic mountain trails with well-maintained park paths. Hikers will traverse terrains ranging from gentle slopes to more rugged sections, enjoying the crisp autumn air and fragrant osmanthus flowers in full bloom along the way. For those who prefer not to drive or walk long distances, a convenient shuttle service is available for an additional fee of 60 RMB per person. The bus departs early on October 18 from "Yellow Dragon Seafood Restaurant (Huanglong Branch)" between 7:00 AM and 8:00 AM, transporting participants directly to the event venue at China Tea Expo Conference Center. This unique opportunity promises an unforgettable adventure in one of China's most picturesque regions. Whether you're a seasoned hiker or simply looking for a leisurely stroll through nature, the Hangzhou West Mountain Hiking Festival offers something special for everyone. Join us as we celebrate autumn and embrace the beauty of Hangzhou's natural landscapes during this annual tradition.
