The 2026 GOFM's Market Mile is scheduled for Sunday, April 12, 2026, in Galveston, TX. This 5th annual event, hosted by Groundswell and Galveston's Own Farmers Market (GOFM), is a community-focused "fun run" that honors the memory of long-time vendor and avid runner David Sabot. The event serves as a major fundraiser for food access programming, supporting initiatives like MarketMatch, WIC, and Senior FMNP vouchers to ensure fresh, local food is accessible to all neighbors.

Participation and Logistics
The Market Mile is designed for all ability levels, offering three distinct ways to participate: the Neighborhood Stroll (perfect for families and dogs), the Fun-Run (for those looking to break a sweat), and the Cheer & Swag Path (for those who prefer to head straight to the market festivities). Participants are encouraged to form teams to compete for the "Biggest Flock" award, or dress up to win the "Berry Best Dressed" prize. Packet Pick-Up is scheduled for Thursday, April 9, at Freckleberry Tea & Coffee from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. While race-day pickup is available at 9:00 AM, organizers strongly recommend picking up materials in advance.
Event Amenities and Schedule
Registration includes a Market Mile bib, an event shirt (guaranteed for those registered by March 22), and an entry to the post-race party featuring live music, local treats, and refreshing drinks. The first 100 registrants also receive a commemorative Market Mile enamel pin. The day’s schedule is packed with activity, beginning with market opening at 9:00 AM, the run start at 10:00 AM, and concluding with a Closing Ceremony and a Young Garden Program (YGP) Seeds Internship Presentation at 11:15 AM.
Registration and Fees
Adult registration is priced at $45.11, while Kids/Teen registration (ages 3-18) is $18.24; both prices include all processing fees. The event is made possible through the support of numerous local sponsors, including "Double Yolker" and "Golden Egg" level partners. For those interested in supporting the mission through non-running means, volunteer shifts are available from 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM on race day. For further information, event contact Mercedes Pang can be reached at 210-317-1827.
