Race morning begins at Riverfront Park in the heart of downtown. The park is surrounded by vibrant murals and historic buildings, creating an inviting atmosphere even before race day starts. On June 20th, early risers can expect cool temperatures with an average high around 73°F (23°C) and a low of about 65°F (18°C), making it comfortable for both participants and spectators.
For over two decades, the festival has grown into a cherished tradition in Elkhart. This year marks its twenty-third edition, drawing hundreds of local residents and visitors alike to celebrate community spirit through running. The event supports scholarships for area students, providing essential resources that enrich educational opportunities within the city limits.
The race offers both a 1 Mile Kids Run and a full 5K course. Participants can expect hard and dry conditions on the surface as trail conditions have been favorable in recent years, though UV levels remain high at an index of 8 (Very High).
Starting from Riverfront Park, runners will follow a well-marked route through downtown streets before returning to the finish line. The race begins precisely at 8:00 AM with check-in opening half an hour earlier at 7:15 AM. Day-of registration is available for those arriving early; however, it's advisable to arrive by 7:30 AM if you want a guaranteed spot.
The Kids Run and the 5K run will follow separate courses but come together in celebration of community spirit. With top three finishers honored in each category, there’s something for everyone from young runners just starting out to seasoned competitors looking to cross another milestone under their belts.
