Starting under the moonlight of Sendai, birthplace of Masamune Date, runners embark on an approximately 106-kilometer journey north along Japan's Pacific coastline. The route takes participants through seven coastal towns: Shichikashuku, Matsushima, Higashi-Matsushima, Ishinomaki, and finally to Ofunato. This event is a unique odyssey that connects the historical end point of the old Hamamachi Road in Sendai with the resilient town of Ofunato, which was heavily impacted by the 2011 earthquake. Runners experience this journey over one night and day, using their own strength to forge a connection between past and present. As dawn breaks at Matsushima's Four Great Views, runners are greeted by breathtaking landscapes that blend history with natural beauty. The afternoon brings runners closer to the rugged charm of the Sanriku coast, where every step is steeped in significance. The journey culminates as participants reach Ofunato just before sunset, marking a poignant moment of reflection and remembrance.
