Welcome to the first Valkyrie Trailrun, hosted by CrossFit Recklinghausen. This inaugural trail running event brings the spirit of true off-road racing to the heart of Germany's Ruhr region. The race takes place around Halde Hoheward, a unique blend of industrial heritage and urban nature that perfectly embodies the area’s distinctive character. The terrain here is challenging yet diverse—narrow singletracks, steep ascents, technical descents, and gravel paths will test your strength, endurance, and focus as you navigate through this historic landscape. The event starts at the site of the former Recklinghausen II coal mine, where industrial history meets modern athletic challenges. Three distances are available to cater to all levels: 5 km for a short but intense experience; 10 km offering a complete loop around Halde Hoheward with multiple steep climbs and technical downhills; and 15 km for those seeking more trails, ascents, descents, and fun. The Valkyrie Trailrun promises honest trail racing, special atmosphere, and genuine Ruhrpott charm. Participants can park at designated spots near Halde Hoheward or Zeche Recklinghausen II. Timing will be managed by the race-result system using an integrated transponder in your bib number. It is essential to wear your bib securely during the event for accurate timing. Without a properly attached bib, you won't be recorded. Detailed start times and locations for picking up your materials will be communicated at a later date via Instagram (@Valkyrie_trailrun). For younger participants under 18 years of age, parental consent forms must be completed and presented upon pickup to ensure compliance with event regulations.
