Guatemala Impact Marathon

Guatemala Beyond Borders is more than just a race; it's a transformative journey that immerses participants into the heart of Guatemalan communities and culture over six unforgettable days. Collaborating closely with SERES, an organization dedicated to empowering young leaders through climate action, food security initiatives, and community development projects, runners spend their week not merely as spectators but active contributors.
Engaging in hands-on work alongside local teams, participants gain a deep understanding of the challenges faced by these communities while fostering meaningful connections that extend far beyond the race itself. Sharing meals, conversations, and experiences with the people whose lives are being positively impacted creates an intimate bond that enriches both sides equally. By the time you step onto the starting line on your final day, every name listed as a supporter is someone you've shared stories and coffee with.
The week culminates in a breathtaking trail race that takes runners through some of Guatemala's most awe-inspiring landscapes. The course begins its ascent into Pacaya Volcano’s lava fields, where remnants of recent eruptions create an otherworldly terrain. As the route winds through lush coffee farms, you'll be surrounded by vibrant greenery and the unmistakable scent of freshly roasted beans. Climbing higher still, runners reach a ridge that offers panoramic views as they approach the crater's edge.
Guatemala Beyond Borders has been running for over a decade with its unique model: small groups ensure personalized experiences, local partners lead initiatives to create lasting impact, and an engaging trail race caps off the week’s efforts. Those who sign up often do so for the race itself but leave with stories of profound human connection and personal growth that they eagerly share with others.
This event is designed not just to challenge you physically but also to inspire a deeper understanding of community resilience and environmental stewardship, making it an experience unlike any other in global racing.
